Less than 2 miles from The Boxer, one of Boston’s most desirable neighborhoods—Back Bay—is known for its high-end shopping, fine dining and beautiful brownstones. With bustling streets like Commonwealth Avenue, Newbury Street, and Boylston Street, there are countless restaurants to choose from. Here are a few of our favorites:

Mistral

Located on the border of Back Bay and the South End, Mistral’s Provence-inspired décor and French-Mediterranean cuisine have earned it a stellar reputation. The sushi grade tuna tartare appetizer is better than that at most sushi restaurants, and the Dover Sole Meuniére with lemon and capers is delicate and flavorful.

Sorellina

The only thing more impressive than Sorellina’s large, elegant, high-ceilinged dining room is its wine menu. Offering 40 options by the glass and countless more by the bottle, there are perfect complements to any delicious Italian menu item. Be sure to try the Veal Saltimbocca with prosciutto, maitake mushrooms and truffle whipped potato and pair it with the Paitin, Nebbiolo Langhe, 2012.

Abe & Louie’s

Abe & Louie’s classic wooden interior is that of a quintessential vintage steakhouse. Start your meal with its renowned freshly baked bread, which is amazingly soft and buttery. Though not on the menu, A&L’s bone-in filet mignon is particularly savory and always cooked perfectly. Abe & Louie’s also offers a delightful weekend brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 11-3.

Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar

Home to one of Back Bay’s most unique interiors, Lolita’s red lighting and gothic décor offer guests a vibrant yet sensual atmosphere. Partly known for its buzzing bars offering a variety of tequilas and cocktails, the Mexican food is both tasty and authentic. We recommend the Broken Heart Margarita and Shrimp Ajillo. Did we mention complimentary chips with three different salsas?!

271 Dartmouth St

Wabora

One of a few Asian fusion restaurants on Newbury Street, Wabora stands out because of its Special Sushi Rolls and shaved ice dessert. Relatively small and outfitted with vivid red plastic chairs, the interior is modern and trendy. The Crispy Crunch Roll and Firecracker Roll are a couple unique special options, and the Hawaiian Shaved Ice dessert, available in Melon and Pineapple flavors, is literally served inside a carved out melon or pineapple!
