Celebrate National Dog Day at The Boxer

Every day offers dog owner’s a great opportunity to show their furry, four-legged companions some love. But every August 26th, dog lovers around the country show a little extra praise for canines on National Dog Day. For those who are considering a stay in Boston, who have already booked one, and any dog owners planning future travels — here’s a brief guide on how to celebrate National Dog Day at the Boxer.

Book a Room at The Boxer

One of the best located and most enthusiastic pet-friendly hotels in Boston, the Boxer’s pet-friendly amenities include: doggie treats readily available in our lobby, personalized dog bowls available for use upon your arrival, and even cozy embroidered dog beds to make sure your pooch’s vacation is as luxurious and relaxing as yours.

Head To The Nearest Parks

Located on Merrimac Street, The Boxer Boston is a short walk to the shores of the Charles River, where you can take your dog for some long walks, and hangouts on the grass along the water. Some of the nearest parks to our property include Thoreau Path, Nashua Street Park, and North Point Park, which is across the bridge in Cambridge.

Head to the Esplanade

If you follow the shores of the Charles south from there, you’ll eventually end up on the gorgeous Esplanade, which is the most well-known riverbank park in town. Families can stop off at Miriam and Sidney Stoneman Playground for some exploring, and you can take pictures with your pup from the Gloucester Street Doc. If there’s a concert at the Hatch Shell — an amphitheater in the park — you can all go check it out!

Visit some Dog Parks

If you’re looking for an area where you can let your pooch off the leash for a little while, then you’re in luck. There are plenty of reputable and attractive dog parks in the area. The nicest in town, arguably, is also closest to our property — the Ruff North End Dog Park is a grassy patch that’s fenced in at the DeFilippo Playground, and it’s hailed by travelers and locals alike. While in town, you can also check out the South Boston Bark Park, and the Carleton Court Dog Park.

Visit a Dog-Friendly Restaurant

There are some restaurants and bakeries in Boston where you can bring your dog to sit at outdoor tables. Just across the bridge from us in Cambridge, Sorelle Bakery serves up delicious pastries and welcomes pooches. And Red Barn Coffee Roasters with a location in Dock Square is another great hangout and coffee house where dogs are welcome.
