There are many things to love about summer in Boston, and one of the activities we’re most excited about is the outdoor movie nights taking places all over the city. Throughout the summer months, there are plenty of places you can watch a movie under the stars. Here are the best places to watch an outdoor movie in Boston this summer:
Friday night at the Hatch Shell means movie time. Grab a blanket, pack some snacks, and head down to the Esplanade for an evening by the Charles River. This year’s lineup includes plenty of family-friendly flicks like The Secret Life of Pets, The Jungle Book and Finding Dory, among others. See the full schedule here.
Movies in the Garden
Magic 106.7’s Family Film Festival at the Prudential Center begins in July and runs through the end of the August. Showtime begins at sunset each Saturday. The schedule includes Annie, Moana and other family favorites. Get some summer shopping done on Newbury Street before the movie and bring the family to the lawn at the Prudential Center and enjoy the show.
Mayor Walsh’s Movie Nights
Beginning in August and lasting through the middle of September, various parks throughout the city are hosting outdoor movie nights, hosted by the Boston Parks and Recreation. Classics like E.T. and Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and others will be playing. Pack your picnic for a night in one of Boston’s parks. See all the dates, locations and times here.
Christopher Columbus Park
The Christopher Columbus Park is located right by the Harborwalk and is just a quick stroll from the North End. This year, the park is showing movies at sunset every Sunday from July 16 – Sept 10. Grab some gelato or a treat from Mike’s Pastry nearby and enjoy an evening outside. For more details, visit the website.
