The Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival

September 24, 2016

Considered Boston’s biggest block party, the Berklee Beantown Jazz Festival is host to free music performances, KidsJam, an “instrument petting zoo”, and an array of food vendors. The event is directed by multi-Grammy Award-winning drummer, composer, bandleader, and Berklee professor Terri Lyne Carrington, and features countless other talented musicians. Though Jazz is the most prominent, the festival also features Latin, blues, funk, and groove performances on three stages. KidsJam is a music education program that teaches young children (ages 3-5) the foundation necessary to excel as a musician, and are conducting free sessions throughout the day. The “instrument petting zoo” gives children and adults alike a hands-on experience with musical instruments, accompanied by demonstrations from Berklee faculty and students.
