This Thanksgiving do something different and participate in one of the many Thanksgiving Runs taking place in Boston. On Thanksgiving Day (November 27, 2014) the Boston Volvo Village 5K road race takes place. It will depart from 75 North Beacon Street in Brighton. Registration is $20 per person and the first 750 runners receive a T-Shirt! The race is for a great cause and proceeds go to support research funded by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Greater New England chapter) which helps nearly 18,00 individuals annually so you can run knowing you’re helping to make a difference in someone’s life.
Another popular Thanksgiving Run is the 18th Annual Gobble Gobble Gobble 4 Miler (gotta love the name). This run was voted one of the top 100 New England Races by New England Runner. The race kicks off at 9:00 a.m. at 40 Holland Street, Davis Square Somerville. Proceeds from the Gobble Gobble run go to Project Soup, which is New England’s first free supper program, and Somerville track PAC which provides college scholarships for Somerville high School students.
Looking to get a 5K in before Thanksgiving? Then sign up for the Charles River Turkey Trot 5K on Saturday November 22. This fun race kicks off at Christian Herter Park on the Charles River and participants are encouraged to don fun costumes and there will be post-race refreshments. Proceeds from the Charles River Turkey Trot 5 K benefit the Boston Road Roads which is a community organization that encourages and supports people to get out and run.
