Tony Award-winning Huntington Theatre Company produces some of the city’s best shows from its home in the Back Bay. Its stages host acclaimed plays and musicals by both emerging and iconic playwrights, regularly starring Tony, Emmy and Academy award-winning actors. Among its many debut works, sixteen have gone on to become Broadway hits.

Catch a show at one of two theaters: the original 1925 venue on Huntington Avenue in Fenway was the country’s first civic theater. Nearby are other notable institutions of Boston culture like Symphony Hall, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Isabella Gardner Museum. In the South End, Huntington Theatre Company also performs shows at the Boston Center for the Arts’s Calderwood Pavilion, surrounded by some of the city’s best restaurants and local bars.

In addition to putting on top-notch plays and musicals, the Huntington Theatre Company also has remarkable opportunities for aspiring performers and creatives. The Huntington Playwriting Fellows Program hosts writers in residency to foster and workshop ideas. Over half of the company’s past fellows have seen their works produced by the theater. The company also promotes gatherings for performers with poetry and monologue competitions.

An excellent venue for interested actors and writers to pursue lifelong goals, the Huntington Theatre Company also speaks to the out-of-towner looking to take a nice bite of Boston culture. Winner of the 2013 Regional Theatre Tony Award, they’re known throughout the performance art world as a destination for top-notch productions performed by premier talent.
